Hi, I’m Keira.

I think it’s important to tell you a bit about me before you tell me anything about you. The relationship between a doula and a family or birthing person is one I believe is built on trust. I want to use this space for you to get to know more about me, who I am and what I believe in. I hope to learn the same about you soon!

I wanted to be a mother for as long as I can remember. I thought my nurturing and protective personality was all I would need to be “successful” mother. It wasn’t until I became pregnant with my first child that I realized how ill-prepared I truly was for the twists and turns this journey can and often does take. It was humbling. In an effort to feel more confident I would often fall down a google rabbit hole. Spoiler alert: it made me feel worse.

I truly believe every family deserves honest and unbiased information. Additionally, and in my opinion most importantly, I believe they also deserve compassionate support. Research shows that a mother that is nurtured throughout her pregnancy, birth and postpartum is less likely to face birth trauma and postnatal mood disorders making them better equipped to care for the new life they created. That's why I am a doula. My goal is to help make your experience better and to give you support, whatever that might look like for you. The challenges we face as women pre, during, and post pregnancy are both extensive and exhausting.  From family pressures to the actual understanding of medical procedures and options, all too frequently mothers can and do feel confused or helpless.

Here's what I know now: even though I did and still have a full support system of a loving family and friends, I would have greatly benefited from an advocate that I could have confided in and trusted was there for me without bias. To help me understand all the information being thrown at me so that I could make my own educated and informed choices. I needed someone to just be there with me while I tried to navigate my new life. That is what I aim to do for my moms.

Becoming a mother, my daughter’s mother, inspired me to become a doula. Noa Doula was named for her.
