Swelling During pregnancy

Let’s talk about swollen 👣. This usually occurs in the 3rd trimester when your body is making the most amount of blood and fluids to support your growing baby. Your uterus is also much bigger and heavier which can slow the blood flow from your legs to your heart.

Other contributing factors:

☀️Heat (being at the end of your pregnancy in the summer is no joke, I feeeeeeeeel you)

☀️Not drinking enough water

☀️Being on your feet for too long

What can you do to help:

☀️Reduce sodium intake

☀️Increase potassium intake

☀️limit caffeine

☀️Drink more water

☀️Elevate your feet (ideally above your heart)

☀️Foot massage (partners, it’s time to level up)

⛔️ call your care provider ASAP If you notice SUDDEN swelling of your hands, face, and feet ⛔️
